    • Module 2:Therapeutics for Clinical Pharmacists

      (6 weeks - 2 days/week - 2hrs/day)

      The aim of this module is
      to develop the student's knowledge of some chronic diseases commonly
      encountered in hospital practice and their treatment.
      On completion, the student will:

      1. Possess a critical awareness of current problems and/or new insights in a variety of diseases.
      2. Have knowledge of clinical guidelines that are relevant to these diseases treatment.

      The therapeutics module aims to develop the skills associated with the delivery of clinical pharmacy services.







    • Week 1: Cardiovascular diseases (2 days /2 hrs per day)



      Learning Objectives:

      This session aims to teach the candidates the hereunder:

      1. The pathophysiology and drug treatment of Coronary heart disease,
      2. Essential hypertension
      3. Angina pectoris & Myocardial infarction
      4. Ischemic Heart Disease




    • Week 2a: Central Nervous System disorders (1 day/ 2hrs/day)



      Week 2a: Central Nervous System disorders (1 day/ 2hrs/day)

      Learning Objectives:
      This session aims to teach the candidates:

      1. The pathophysiology and drug treatment of some Psychiatric and neurological disorders.

      Week 2b: Respiratory Diseases (1 day/2hrs/day)

      Learning Objectives:


      1. This session aims to teach the candidates:
      2. The pathophysiology and drug treatment of asthma,
      3. The chronic obstructive pulmonary disease,
      4. The upper and lower respiratory tract infections.




    • Week 3a: Infectious Diseases (1 day/2hrs/day)



      Week 3a: Infectious Diseases (1 day/2hrs/day)

      Learning Objectives:

      This module is designed so the candidate will:

      1. Be able to manage the drug treatment of patients with a range of common infections.
      2. Have on overview on the topics below:

        • Common pathogenic organisms and associated infections
        • Management of infection
        • Therapeutic drug monitoring
        • Prevention and control of infection
        • Antimicrobial resistance





    Week 3b/Week 4a: Gastro-Intestinal Tract Disorders (Two days/ 2hrs/day)

    Learning Objectives:

    This module is designed so the candidate will:


    1. Understand the different disorders of upper gastrointestinal tract
    2. The problems of small and large intestine
    3. Some liver diseases



  • Week 4b: Diabetes (1 Day/ 2hrs/day)



    Learning Objectives:

    This module is designed so the candidate will:


    1. Understand the pathophysiology and drug treatment of type 1 and type 2 diabetes
    2. Manage acute complications of diabetes
    3. Manage long-term complications of diabetes



  • Week 5: Nephrology Basics (2 Days/2 hrs/day)



    Learning Objectives:
    This module is designed so the candidate will:


    1. Understand the pathophysiology and drug treatment of certain renal disorders
    2. Manage the acute renal failure
    3. Manage the chronic and End-stage renal disease
    4. Manage the Acid Base disturbances



  • Week 6: Critical Care (2 Days/2hrs/day)



    Learning Objectives:

    This module is designed so the candidate will be taught the skills needed to optimize the management of Critical care patients.
    Upon
    completion, they should be qualified to offer specialist knowledge and
    expertise on drug therapy, ensuring that patients receive safe and
    effective treatment.
